Nicki Minaj Calls Out Jessie J After Singer Said Nicki Asked To Get On ‘Bang Bang’: The Label Asked Me & Paid Me

A Jessie J interview is sparking a reaction from Nicki Minaj. 

Jessie J spoke to Glamour about her 2014 hit song Bang Bang that featured Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj. She said in an article published Thursday (Aug. 5),

“Bang Bang” was a song that already existed. I didn’t write “Bang Bang.” Max Martin wrote “Bang Bang,” and Ariana had been played it, I’d been played it, and we both loved it. We just said, “Why don’t we both do it?” So Ariana stayed on the second verse, I recorded the first verse, and then Nicki was played it in the studio and was like, “I’ve got to jump on this.” We didn’t go to her and ask; she wanted to do it. I’ll never forget: I was in my bedroom in my flat in London, and I got sent the version with Nicki on it. I just sat at the end of my bed holding my phone, staring at the floor, going, “How the f*** did I land this?” I literally felt like I’d won a competition.” 

“Bang Bang” debuted at number six on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and later peaked at No. 3.

It debuted at number one in the United Kingdom, making it Nicki Minaj’s first No. 1 single on the chart.

A fan shared the quote with Nicki Minaj, who responded with a message for Jessie J. 

“Babe @JessieJ I didn’t hear the song & ask 2get on it. The label asked me2get on it & paid me. How would I have heard the song?  chiiille what am I the d*** song monitor? Snoopin around for songs chile?This was said by another artist recently as well. Yall gotta stop LoveU”

She then said she wasn’t asked to get on Jessie J’s song Do It Like A Dude, which she really did want to have a feature on. She joked,

“I would’ve gotten on that 1 for some pickle juice”
