Halle Berry Faces Lawsuit From Ex-UFC Fighter Who Claims Actress Dropped Her From Upcoming Netflix Film
As she embarks on her directorial debut, Halle Berry is also facing a legal issue in relation to the film.
Halle Berry is being sued by ex-UFC fighter Cat Zingano, as reported by TMZ. Halle Berry allegedly asked Cat Zingano to keep an open schedule in order to appear in Bruised, a Netflix film that Halle Berry is directing, Cat Zingano claims. Resultingly, Zingano said she passed up a well-paying UFC fight so she could appear in the film.
Shortly after missing the fight, the UFC reportedly dropped Cat Zingano–and Halle Berry allegedly then decided to remove her from the movie. According to Zingano, Halle Berry stated she only wanted UFC fighters in the film, and she cut off communication once Zingano lost her contract. She is suing Berry for damages.
Bruised is an upcoming movie that marks Berry‘s directorial debut. She is also starring in the film, playing the role of Jackie Justice–a middle-aged MMA fighter who’s gearing up for her last chance in the fighting ring. The film also stars Adan Canto as her manager/boyfriend, Danny Boyd Jr. as her estranged son, and Sheila Atim as her trainer-turned-love interest. Bruised is slated to premier on Netflix on November 24th.
