Sha’Carri Richardson Responds To Negative Comments Ahead Of Upcoming Race: I’ll Never Let The Hate Overshadow The Love

Sha’Carri Richardson isn’t letting negativity get in the way of her dreams!

As previously reported, Sha’Carri Richardson was banned from participating in the Tokyo Olympics after she tested positive for marijuana. Despite this setback, she has been gearing up to participate in the Prefontaine Classic, an annual event held by the Oregon Track Club. The event takes place this weekend, and Sha’Carri Richardson is racing on Saturday (Aug. 21st).

To essentially hype her and her fans up for the upcoming race, Sha’Carri created a Tik Tok and shared it to her Instagram. In the video, Sha’Carri plays a Nicki Minaj voiceover that says:

“You know, I took some time off to rest, and now it’s game time b****es. You have no idea.”

However, numerous commenters subsequently began stating that Sha’Carri would end up coming in fourth place due to Jamaica’s female runners sweeping the women’s 100-meter finals. As you may recall, three Jamaican athletes–Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson–took home the gold, silver, and bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics’ 100-meter event. Additionally, all three women beat Sha’Carri Richardson‘s record time.

Resultingly, people who once supported Sha’Carri Richardson have now begun questioning whether she will do well at the upcoming event in Oregon.

In response, Sha’Carri Richardson went to Twitter yesterday (Wednesday, Aug. 18th) to express her thoughts on the subject. She tweeted:

“The love y’all show me, I’ll never let the hate overshadow that. Positivity is sooo much greater than negativity. That’s why God always win and the devil fails.”

Sha’Carri Richardson will race in the women’s 100- and 200-meter races at the Prefontaine Classic.
