Nicki Minaj’s Husband Pleads Guilty To Failure To Register As A Sex Offender

Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Enters Guilty Plea For Not Registering As A Sex Offender In California
Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has officially taken accountability for failing to register as a sex offender in his new state.
As previously reported, Kenneth Petty–who married Nicki Minaj back in 2019–agreed to a plea deal last month. Specifically, the 43-year-old agreed to plead guilty to one count of failing to register as a sex offender in California. Kenneth Petty legally needs to register as a sex offender due to a 1995 first-degree attempted rape conviction. While he was listed as a registered sex offender in his home state of New York, he neglected to re-register once he and Nicki Minaj relocated to California.
Yesterday (Thursday, Sept. 9th), Kenneth Petty reportedly followed through on his end of the deal and entered a guilty plea. He did so during a virtual court hearing with the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
With his guilty plea, the maximum sentence Kenneth Petty faces is ten years behind bars, a lifetime of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine. However, the minimum penalty could be a mere a $100 court assessment fee and five years of supervised release. Resultingly, it is unclear what repercussions Kenneth Petty will face for failing to register as a sex offender in California.
Kenneth Petty is due back in court for sentencing on January 24th, 2022.
