John Legend Joins Production Team For Broadway’s Temptations Musical ‘Aint Too Proud’
John Legend performed live at the Tony Awards with the cast members from the Broadway musical “Aint Too Proud-The Life and Times of the Temptations” and now he’ll be officially joining the show’s production team. The Ordinary People singer announced via Twitter that he’s excited to help produce the show, which will be returning Oct. 16th.

He’ll be producing along with his partners Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorious from Get Lifted Film Co. John Legend released a statement explaining how important it is to tell these stories live and how pivotal it is to continue to support Broadway shows. Reportedly he said,
“The Temptations’ music is core to my own musical upbringing and is an integral part of America’s cultural heartbeat. This is a musical I love and a story I want to help share. In this pivotal time, it’s so important that we support and maintain Broadway, an essential part of the soul of New York and the entire nation. I’m honored to be a part of the ‘Ain’t Too Proud’ team and the return of Broadway.”
The “Ain’t Too Proud” musical chronicles the lives of ’60’s Motown group The Temptations during their rise to fame. The group is most famous for hit classics like My Girl and Papa Was A Rolling Stone.
The musical originally opened on Broadway on Thursday, March 21, 2019, and was nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical. John Legend and his production team are looking forward to the collaboration and his partner, Mike Jackson, shared the team’s excitement. He said,
“We are thrilled to be partnering with this fantastic team to help reopen Broadway. We love the live theatrical experience, and it has been a long time coming.”
