Nicki Minaj & Kenneth Petty–Court Rejects $20 Million Default Judgement Requested By Jennifer Hough In Harassment Lawsuit
There has been an update in the ongoing legal battle between Nicki Minaj, her husband, and Jennifer Hough!
As previously reported, Jennifer Hough–the woman who’s suing Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, for harassment–recently requested a $20 million default judgment after they failed to respond to the lawsuit in a timely manner.
For context, Kenneth Petty previously served four years in prison for sexually assaulting Jennifer Hough, and is a registered sex offender as a result. Last year, he was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender after moving to California, and Jennifer Hough says the couple began harassing her to recant her sexual assault allegations shortly thereafter.
In response to the default judgment petition, Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty‘s attorney requested an extension. However, Jennifer Hough‘s attorney–Tyrone Blackburn–stated he declined the request:
“I said NO! I told him to prepare his opposition to my request for default judgment and explain to the court why his client and her husband believe they’re both above the law.”
Later, Nicki Minaj claimed the matter was merely an “innocent mistake” and asked the court for clemency. She also suggested Tyrone Blackburn was essentially clout chasing:
“My failure to respond to the complaint was the product of an innocent mistake, and I ask the court to excuse the delay so that I can defend what I believe to be an entirely frivolous case which plaintiff’s counsel has brought against me in an effort to use my name to generate publicity for himself.”

Now, there has been an update on the situation. Yesterday (Tuesday, Oct. 19th), a court official shot down the $20 million default judgment, effectively giving Nicki Minaj a chance to defend herself against Jennifer Hough‘s harassment lawsuit. It’s also worth noting that, while Nicki Minaj wasn’t found at fault, the court official noted Kenneth Petty
“has not filed an answer or otherwise moved with respect to the complaint.”
In response to the matter, Tyrone Blackburn blasted Kenneth Petty, saying:
“He has no respect for this proceeding and no respect for this judge to come forward and to answer for raping Jennifer Hough in 1994 and all the harassment he and his wife and his goons visited upon her since then.”
