Mathew Knowles Sued For $390,000 By Former Landlord + Denies Claims & Makes Accusations Of Racism In Countersuit
Mathew Knowles is currently in a legal battle over unpaid rent.
Yesterday (Thursday, Oct. 28th), Radar Online published an article revealing Beyoncé‘s dad, Mathew Knowles, was recently hit with a six-figure lawsuit. Specifically, the 69-year-old’s company–Music World Entertainment Holdings–has been sued by the Decorative Center of Houston (DCH).
In the lawsuit, DCH claims Mathew Knowles violated his seven-year lease–reportedly signed in 2017–by vacating the premises early. Additionally, DCH accuses Mathew Knowles of owing about $108,000 in unpaid rent and ultimately costing the company $282,000 by breaking the lease. Resultingly, DCH is suing Knowles‘ Music World Entertainment Holdings company for $390,000.
In response to the lawsuit, Mathew Knowles has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and is requesting for the case to be dismissed. Additionally, Knowles claims DCH is the one who initially violated the terms of the lease by allegedly causing a
“disruptive working environment that detrimentally impaired Music World’s business operations.”
Mathew Knowles is also claiming DCH failed to properly maintain the property, resulting in issues like power outages, plumbing problems, and water shut-offs. Notably, Knowles is also making accusations of racism against the building’s owner, claiming he heard his landlord proclaim he
“does not want any N****rs in the building.”
Resultingly, Mathew Knowles is demanding for the case to be dismissed and seeking for the Decorative Center of Houston to pay his attorney fees.
