Kevin Hart Cast As Gary Coleman’s Character In ‘Diff’rent Strokes’ Remake Special

Kevin Hart will be filling Gary Coleman‘s shoes in the upcoming Diff’rent Strokes special!

Next month, ABC will air a 90-minute Diff’rent Strokes remake special–titled Live in Front of a Studio Audience. The beloved sitcom originally aired from 1978 to 1986, and one of the most memorable components of the show was Gary Coleman‘s character’s catchphrase: “Whatchu talkin’ ’bout, Willis?”

While on the subject of Gary Coleman‘s Diff’rent Strokes character (Arnold Jackson), it’s worth noting that Kevin Hart will play the iconic role in the remake special! The news was announced yesterday (Thursday, Nov. 18th), and the revelation has reportedly been met with mixed reactions.

Additionally, Damon Wayans will also be involved in the Diff’rent Strokes special. He will star as Willis Jackson (originally played by Todd Bridges)–meaning Damon Wayans and Kevin Hart will star as on-screen brothers!

Furthermore, John Lithgow and Ann Dowd will respectively take on the roles of Mr. Drummond and Mrs. Garrett in the TV special, which will air on Dec. 7th.

Kevin Hart has not publicly addressed being cast as Gary Coleman‘s Diff’rent Strokes character.

In addition to this upcoming role, Kevin Hart is also gearing up for True Story to premiere on Netflix. Kevin Hart plays a major role in the upcoming drama miniseries, and he also serves as an executive producer. True Story will make its debut on Nov. 24th.
