Trevor Noah Files Lawsuit Against New York-Based Doctor & Hospital Over Alleged  Botched Surgery

Trevor Noah isn’t too happy with his doctor over an alleged botched surgery. 

According to reports, well-known television host/comedian Trevor Noah, 37, has filed a lawsuit in the New York County Supreme Court against Dr. Riley J Williams III and the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) for “negligence.” The suit, which was filed on Nov. 29 of this year, comes after a Nov. 2020 surgery that the South African native underwent at HSS in New York City at the hands of Dr.Williams. 

It’s unclear what type of surgical procedure Trevor Noah received exactly. However, the legal documents state that the accused

“were negligent and careless in failing to treat and care for” Noah “in a careful and skillful manner.”

The documents continue and claim that the accused failed “to use approved methods in general use in the care and treatment” of ‘The Daily Show’ host.

The lawsuit adds that Dr.Williams and the HSS failed to, 

“to inform the plaintiff of the risks, hazards and alternatives to the treatment.”

“A reasonably prudent person in the position of the plaintiff would have refused the treatment rendered, had they been so informed of the risks, hazards, and alternatives to the treatment rendered,” 

In addition to that, Noah and his legal team are arguing that the defendants also failed to; “prescribe proper medications,” “discontinue certain prescription medications”, and “use proper tests and examinations in order to diagnose the conditions from which” Noah “was suffering”.

According to Noah’s lawsuit, he suffered from “serious personal injury” which is “permanent, severe and grievous.” These complications allegedly left Noah,

“rendered sick, sore lame and disabled.”

The hospital’s public relations team released a statement acknowledging that it had received Noah’s legal complaint. In part, the statement said, 

“We have shared with Mr. Noah’s attorney a detailed rebuttal to the claims, which are meritless.”
