Bobby Shmurda Slams Epic Records & Wants Out Of His Contract: ‘They Won’t Release My Music’
Bobby Shmurda is speaking out against his record label and is not holding back! The Brooklyn rapper took to Instagram on Thursday (Feb.10) and slammed Epic Records. In a since-deleted post, Bobby Shmurda, 27, expressed his frustrations with his label and explains why he hasn’t put out new music since being released from prison almost a year ago. He wrote,
“I got a 70-year-old lady running my label. I love her dearly but doesn’t want to let me go at alllllllllll no matter what I do. I’ve been signed to them since I was 19 I did six years in jail trying to get off this label before I came home.”
Bobby continued,
“You name one person in the industry a label keeps a sign in jail for six years ?????? Yeah, I made them more millions than they ever gave me!!! Just let me gooo”
It appears Bobby Shmurda was referring to Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone– who is one of the most influential executives in music industry history.
Bobby went on to caption the post with a deeper explanation of why he wants to be released from his record contract. He wrote,
“This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career I’ve been holding s**t down doing everything on my own since I been home it’s been a year now I still feel like I’m in prison ???????
He then confirms that a new album is complete and hopes to release it soon.
“By the way the album’s done ready to live pleaseeeeeeeee I need them to let me gooooooooo!!! #FreeShmurda”
Shortly after Bobby’s post went viral, the “Hot N**a” rapper deleted the post from his Instagram page. It’s unclear why Epic Records would be prolonging the release of his new album. As of now, no further comments have been made on the matter.
