‘Martin’ Cast Set For 30th Reunion Special

Calling all ‘Martin‘ fans! It looks like the cast if finally reuniting after 30 years!

Martin Lawrence, 56, and the surviving cast of his popular 90’s sitcom ‘Martin’ are set to reunite 30 years later as part of a BET+ reunion special. Tisha Campbell, 53, Tichina Arnold, 52, and Carl Anthony Payne II, 52, will join host Affion Crockett to reminisce about the series and the impact it had on the culture. Thomas Mikal Ford, who played Martin’s best friend Tommy in the series, died in 2016 at the age of 52.

According to reports, the reunion special will feature interviews with the cast, original directors and behind-the-scenes commentary on the show’s impact, as well as special musical performances.

When discussing the reunion, Martin Lawrence said,

“To be able to sit here 30 years later with this amazing cast that has had such an impact on pop culture is truly a blessing. I am always humbled that the fans still want more of the show and its characters. I am looking forward to the reunion special.”

Scott Mills, the CEO of BET had nothing but praises for the iconic sitcom.

“Martin is one of the most beloved sitcoms in our community, both because it is hugely entertaining and because it played a pivotal role in changing the narrative of Black voices in entertainment and in culture through the portrayal of young, ambitious Black leads and healthy Black relationships.”

He continued,

“Decades later, that representation is still just as important, which is why we’re so excited to honor a series that put Black culture front and center on our platform that embraces Black culture every day.”

“Martin” aired on Fox from 1992 to 1997, with reruns still playing on cable networks today. All five seasons are now streaming on BET Plus.

Reportedly, the taping for the reunion special will take place Sunday, Feb. 20 and will premiere on BET Plus  later this year.
