Saweetie Becomes Champion’s Global Cultural Consultant
Saweetie just collected another bag. The “Icy Grl” rapper, 28, is reportedly the new global cultural consultant at Champion, the first in the company’s history. Saweetie‘s new venture was announced alongside Champion’s new “Get it Girl” campaign, which reportedly pays homage to 12 female college athletes with the “confidence to play by their own rules and look good doing it.”
Saweetie spoke about the partnership in a statement. She noted Champion has long been one of her “go-to” brands, but more importantly, she supports its message championing self-love and confidence.
“My relationship with Champion runs deep, as an athlete and lover of streetwear. It’s been a go-to brand since high school! This campaign and partnership hit me on a personal level and I couldn’t be prouder to help all my sporty-icy girls out there feel empowered with self-love and confidence. When you feel good wearing Champion, the sky’s the limit.”
The “Get It Girl” campaign was named after her 2021 song of the same name. The single was featured on the soundtrack for the final season of Insecure, Issa Rae‘s hit HBO series chronicling the lives of two best friends in Los Angeles.
Saweetie has also been working on an album, her first since breaking out with 2017’s “Icy Grl.” The album, titled Pretty B*tch Music, was supposed to come out in June of 2021, but it has faced delays due to her perfectionism.
“Yes, PBM was supposed to come out this month,” she shared at the time. “But I was really living with it. And one of my goals is for people to really feel something with every song, so I had to go back and reconstruct some songs. Just know that I’m a perfectionist and it’s on the way.”
