Traci Braxton’s Husband Hosts Virtual Funeral Service + Braxton Sisters & Mother Allegedly Disapproved & Were Not In Attendance
Traci Braxton was recently laid to rest.
As a celebration of her life, the late reality star’s husband, Kevin Surratt, held a live viewing of the funeral. According to inside sources, Traci didn’t want a funeral or wake, and the Braxton sisters nor their mother attended the service.
Braxton Family Values star Traci Braxton passed away two weeks ago after a battle with esophageal cancer. Reportedly, while the family is still grieving, tension has grown between Traci’s sisters and her husband over funeral arrangements. An insider close to the Braxton family claims that Traci’s husband, Kevin Surratt and her manager are attempting to cash in on the reality stars recent death.
Held in her hometown, the service details were kept secure until March 30th, a day before the service went live. In an official instagram post from her manager, it was announced the funeral would be held with a limited number of seats for fans. Along with a QR code linked to a live streaming of the homegoing.
Reportedly, however, this was not the plan made in Traci’s final days with her family. The insider stated:
“Traci did not want a funeral or wake. She did not want people looking all over her body. She specifically requested to be immediately cremated… There was a Zoom meeting that made it clear about what she wanted, and now her husband is trying to cash in on her name”
Sources say that Kevin attempted to invite the famous sisters Tamar, Toni, Trina, Towanda, and her mother Evelyn to the service. However, no one except her father, Michael Conrad Braxton, and brother made an appearance.
Asserting he knew what his wife wanted, Kevin has publicly denied the claims and says that he honored his wife’s wishes. According to reports he stated:
“She explained everything to the funeral home [before she passed].”
He continued:
“I was with my wife..more than anybody in this world….I know my wife, and when she got cancer, we really started to communicate about funeral plans and I was still trying to find treatments for her and I went to every single one of her doctor appointments throughout our entire marriage. That’s how we were, and now they’re treating me like a [deadbeat] husband”
During a sit down on The Tamron Hall Show, Traci’s sister – Grammy winning artist Toni Braxton – revealed plans for a seperate tribute. Confirming that her family hill be gathering to honor Traci on what would’ve been her 51st birthday on April 2nd.
The first memorial was held at Zion church and featured a number of remarks from music execs and members of Traci’s production team. Many video remarks, including condolences from R&B music group 112 and comedian Tommy Davidson, were also part of the service.
Reportedly, Kevin, who did not get an invite to the Braxton’s birthday tribute, is planning a second and final public memorial.
