Ashanti Accused Of Plagiarism After Announcing The Release Of Her New Children’s Book
Ashanti may be in hot water!
Following the reveal of her upcoming storybook “MY NAME IS A STORY”, a Philadelphia children’s book author alleged the R&B singer stole and copied her original book.
Grammy award winning artist Ashanti recently shared with followers that she’s releasing a children’s book in July of this year. Shorty after, Philly based children’s writer, Jamilah Thompkins-Bigelow made allegations the “Rain On Me” singer ripped off her work.
In a series of tweets, Jamilah noted similarities between her book “Your Name Is A Song”, and Ashanti’s upcoming release. Along with a side by side comparison of the two books covers she wrote:
“My heart hurts…is Ashanti ripping off my book? Ashanti’s is on the left. Here’s mine on the right, published with @InnovationPress”

Jamiliah then posted side by sides of the books synopsis, pointing out the arguably similar concepts.

The east coast author goes on to speak on the journey to publishing that took her years to complete. She also suggested there is more info to the story she can’t presently discuss, but has left her to wonder if she’ll remain in the industry:

Neither Ashanti nor her books publishing company HarperKids have responded to the claims.
