Kenya Moore Says She’s Done Being RHOA’s ‘Villain’ & Is Ready For Fans To See Her ‘Carefree’ In Upcoming Season

It looks like Kenya Moore is ready to turn over a new leaf and no longer be considered the villain on Real Housewives of Atlanta!

In a recent interview promoting season 14 of ‘RHOA’, long-time peach holder Kenya Moore dished on the upcoming season and claimed that viewers will get to see a more “carefree” and “light hearted” side of her. She said,

“I’m the Kenya that I was always meant to be this season. It’s so funny because I think that I got pegged into this villain role and now it’s like, girl, just let someone else have that baton. Here, pass the scepter on. Honey, it’s over for you! I just think I’m back to reclaiming who I was always meant to be on this show. Lighthearted, fun, sassy–I will still tell a b***h off, but I do it with such dignity and grace.”

Kenya Moore joined RHOA in season 5 and quickly became the pot-stirrer of the show, some viewers even consider her to be a villain.  Fans can recall her infamous “Gone With the Wind Fabulous” rant towards co-star Porsha Williams from her first cast trip, along with a long list of falling outs amongst other RHOA vets like Nene Leakes, Phaedra Parks, and Sheree Whitfield.

Kenya then admitted that she was given the title of the show’s villain by fans and decided to run with it.

“I think that I was just pegged into that villain role really early, and I just was never able to get out of that. I sort of, in my own way, leaned into it and then it was just like, ‘OK, this is old, because now this really isn’t who I am and I hate that I’m even perceived that way.'”

It appears a few factors play into why Kenya Moore feels more “carefree” this season. One being her longtime frenemy Porsha Williams is no longer a part of the cast. Porsha Williams opted out of filming season 14 and instead focused on a family-themed spinoff, which aired this past winter.

Kenya also addressed her ongoing feud with Porsha Williams and revealed she’s ready to move on.

“I feel that where we were, is where we were, not necessarily by my own doing – especially in the last seasons. I definitely made that offer for peace, extending that olive branch and it was not returned. I realized it wasn’t me at that point and I was ready to move on. And yes, I’m free of that situation and happy for people to move on, too.”

Another reason we will be seeing a lighter and brighter Kenya Moore is the fact that she’s made peace with her divorce from ex-husband Marc Daly. During her interview, Kenya explained,

“The season was about me just coming into my own, reclaiming who I was before the divorce, all that. I’m just in a different place. I think what I explore in my own life this season is just back to being who I always was.”

She continued,

“It’s just fun, lighthearted, reclaiming my power. I think that I lost a lot of that during my divorce and my marriage. I feel like I had to just take inventory of myself and figure out where did I go wrong. Now that I’ve figured it out, it’s just back to being me.”

The two tied the knot in 2017 and welcomed their daughter Brooklyn Daly in 2018. After four years of marriage–mostly separated–Kenya filed for divorce from the New York-based restaurant owner in 2021.
