NeNe Leakes Denies Shading Ratings For ‘Kandi & The Gang’ After Kandi Burruss Claps Back
NeNe Leakes doesn’t have the best history with Kandi Burruss, but she insists she never said anything negative about the ratings on her show Kandi & the Gang.
The show follows the staff of the Old Lady Gang, a restaurant in Atlanta owned by Kandi Burruss and her husband, Todd Tucker. It premiered in March to a reported almost 500,000 viewers, but some people were not impressed, knowing other shows like Porsha’s Family Matters have generated stronger numbers.
One fan remarked that they weren’t ever going to watch Kandi & the Gang and shared their support for NeNe Leakes, who famously left The Real Housewives of Atlanta on bad terms with many of her cast members, including Kandi Burruss.
“Thank you,” NeNe Leakes wrote in response to the tweet, with many interpreting it as shade toward Burruss and her show.
When an interviewer mentioned this to Burruss, she was confused about why Leakes would do that. She said:
“What are the ratings on her show? I don’t want this to become a big shade-throwing contest between she and I because just like she can throw shade at me, I can throw shade at her. But my whole thing is like, I do not understand why she does that. Back when she did have a show, even when she and I wouldn’t even be on the same page, and I will still be posting [on my social media] telling people to watch that show. That’s just how I am…What did I do to you? What is my show-stopping you from doing?”
But Leakes denied ever saying anything about the ratings, despite the rumors.
“I never even talked [about] this girl rating[s] because what’s there to talk [about]?” she wrote in the comment section after The Jasmine Brand re-posted Burruss‘ comments.
