Ex Real Housewives of New York’s Bethenny Frankel Facing Mixed Reactions After Receiving ‘Reality Royalty’ Honor
Former “Real Housewives of New York City” star Bethenny Frankel will be honored the Reality Royalty Award at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards.
According to reports, philanthropist and reality TV star Bethenny Frankel, 51, will receive the award from MTV during its Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED show. The Reality Royalty Award “recognizes the legacy of reality greatness.” Beginning last year, the first recipient was presented to the cast of “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation” in 2021.
Best known as a reality TV star, Bethenny Frankel got her television personality start in 2005 on “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart.” Frankel went on to star on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New York City” for eight of its thirteen seasons, last appearing on Season 11 in 2019.

The “unscripted” portion of the awards show will directly follow the MTV Movie & TV Awards as a one-night global event. Since the news broke of the approaching big night, MTV is now facing some backlash over crowning Frankel “reality royalty.”
Social media users took to Twitter to react to the circulating reports of Frankel being honored for her contribution to reality television. Some felt the recognition should go to other well-known reality stars, while others acknowledged Frankel’s hands-on philanthropy work as a result to her rise to fame. See reactions below:
