O.J. Simpson Speaks Out In Support Of Police Officers Amid Reports That West Hollywood Has Voted To Defund The Sheriff’s Department: Trust me, we need police
It looks like O.J. Simpson is in support of the Los Angeles County law enforcement!
The 74-year-old former athlete turned ex-convict took to social media on Wednesday (June 29) to share his thoughts on West Hollywood voting to cut funding for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD).
“I think that’s all wrong..I spent a little time in one of our institutions and trust me, we need police. We need the Sheriff’s Department.. I always said they should redirect some of those funds to better training.”
He continued,
“I’ve always said to expanding the I.A.–internal affairs– the police who investigate the police. But defunding the police as whole, or the sheriff department as a whole? No.”

Some may find O.J. Simpson’s comments ironic seeing that during his infamous murder trial, his defense team went after the LAPD for allegedly tampering with evidence and being racist.

The former NFL star was accused of killing his former wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994 but was acquitted in 1995. Now, in recent court documents, Fred Goldman, 81, says he’s applying for a renewal of his old judgment against O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 murder of Fred Goldman’s son, Ron Goldman. Nicole Brown Simpson died along with Ron Goldman as they were both stabbed to death in Brentwood, California.
In 1997 O.J Simpson was ordered to pay $33.5 million to the Goldman family. In 2015, Fred Goldman stated O.J. owed him $57 million including interest. Goldman says interest has accumulated over the last seven years and has now reached up to $97 million.
