D.L Hughley and Academy Award-winning actress Mo’Nique have been blasting each other publicly amid D.L Hughley getting top billing over Mo’Nique at a comedy performance on Saturday (May 28) at Fox Theater in Detroit.
On Wednesday (June 29) Hughley reflected on his stance on his dispute with Mo’Nique, 54. Hughley said:
“You only get so many breaths in your life and I refuse to use one more on somebody like that.”
Comedian Hughley, 59, continued:
“I don’t even know who you talking about, I don’t even know who you talking about … I don’t even know who it is, I don’t even know who you’re talking about.”
As previously reported, on Sunday (June 19) at the Duke Energy Center of Performing Arts in North Carolina, Mo’Nique apologized for the statements she made regarding an alleged sexual assault on Hughley’s daughter.
Mo’Nique said:
“I like to consider myself a woman of honor, so, I have to do something right now publicly that I did publicly and when I f*ck it up, I’ve got to fix it up. So, I’m going to take care of that right now – to D.L. Hughley’s family, to I want to publicly apologize if I hurt anyone’s feelings.”
The 54-year-old comedian added:
“I want to publicly apologize to his wife, his babies, if I hurt their feelings because that was never my … intention. I never meant to hurt their feelings.”

Hughley responded to Mo’Nique’s apology on Wednesday (June 29):
“I haven’t heard anything, I don’t listen to that – not at all.”
Hughley clarified:
“I can tell you this: I work, my family’s intact, I just came from doing a benefit for the people that are affected by the tragedy in Buffalo. I go home and see my granddaughter.”
