‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ Creator Sascha Penn Calls Out Emmy’s For Snubbing Lead Actress Patina Miller: She’s The Best Actress On TV, Period!
Power Book III writer/creator Sascha Penn is not happy with the recent Emmy nomination list.
The Raising Kanan creator called out the daytime awards show for leaving the series lead actress, Patina Miller, from their best actress nominees. Playing the role of Raquel Thomas, the 37-year-old has starred in the Starz drama since it’s premiere in 2021. Raising Kanan is the third installment of the 50 Cent executive produced, critically acclaimed series Power.

Speaking on the snub, Penn took to his instagram to post a picture with the message:
“Salute to all the Emmy award nominees. But I can’t help but point out that the work being done on RAISING KANAN and shows like it, is also worthy of this kind of recognition. And yet our cast remains criminally overlooked by virtually ever awards organization.”

It continues:
“Am I biased? Hell yeah. But I’m also not an idiot. PATINA MILLER is the best actress on TV right now. Period. Our industry gives a lot of lip service to progress, but these nominations tell us how far we have to go. And while I’d love to just write all this off to business as usual, I can’t. This sh*t matter. It really does.”

While users in the comments agreed with Penn on Miller’s snub, it seems 50 Cent isn’t all too bothered. The entertainment mogul took to his Instagram account to highlight his own Emmy nomination. Reposting his Super Bowl Halftime performance nomination, alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar for Best Variety Special (Live), 50 wrote:
“So i guess i’m gonna win my first Emmy Award GLG GreenLightGang @bransocognac@lecheminduroi”

Thus far, the popular Power franchise has been nominated for a total of 12 NAACP Image Awards, winning 7. Back in February of this year, Power Book IV: Force set a record at Starz for having the highest audience viewership for a series premiere in the networks history.

Powerbook III: Raising Kanan season two is set to premiere on Starz next month, August 14th.
