2022 Emmy Awards Nomination Announced: Issa Rae, Zendaya, Quinta Brunson, Donald Glover & The Late Chadwick Boseman

This year’s Emmy Award nominees were announced on Tuesday (July 12) with “Succession,” “Ted Lasso” and “The White Lotus” earning the most nominations. “Squid Game” earned 14 nods, the most ever for a foreign-language show.

Overall, HBO led all nominations by platform, with a total of 108 nominations edging out Netflix, which earned 105. Other series with double-digit noms include Hacks (17 noms), Only Murders in the Building (17), Euphoria (16), Barry (14), Dopesick (14), Severance (14), Squid Game (14), Ozark (13), Stranger Things (13), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (12) and Pam & Tommy (10).

Despite the stiff competition, actress Quinta Brunson makes history as the first Black woman to receive three comedy Emmy nominations! Her hit show, Abbott Elementary is nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series. Brunson’s co stars Janelle James and Sheryl Lee Ralph also earned nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series while Tyler James Williams was recognized for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Zendaya– who snagged a nom for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in HBO’s Euphoria–is also making history as the youngest person to receive an acting nomination two years in a row. Euphoria itself is also up for Outstanding Drama Series.
