Jennifer Lopez Recalls Suffering Panic Attack In Her Late 20s: I Thought I Was Losing My Mind
Jennifer Lopez (J. Lo) is a hard-working woman, a trait that once put her life in jeopardy.
The 52-year-old entertainer recently opened up about a panic attack she had in her late 20s as a result of exhaustion, which inspired her to change how she leads her busy life. Jennifer Lopez reported feeling “invincible,” functioning on three to five hours of sleep every night and devoting every other moment to her music while continuously operating on empty.
She was sitting in her trailer on set one day when
“all the work and the stress it brought with it, coupled with not enough sleep to recuperate mentally, caught up with me.”
Jennifer Lopez described the situation as keeping her completely frozen, adding she couldn’t see clearly. She said,
“Now I know it was a classic panic attack brought on by exhaustion, but I had never even heard the term at the time.”
The ‘I’m Real’ singer added,
“My security guard on set came in and picked me up and drove me to the doctor. By the time I got there, I could at least speak again and I was so terrified I thought I was losing my mind.”

The entire situation left J. Lo so traumatized, she asked the doctor if she was “going crazy.” Luckily, her condition wasn’t anything a good night’s rest couldn’t fix. He then gave her advice to exercise, avoid caffeine and get seven to nine hours of sleep per night.
It was in that moment that J. Lo decided to prioritize her requirements for self-care—something she had failed to do previously. She shared,
“I realized how serious the consequences could be of ignoring what my body and mind needed to be healthy — and that’s where my journey to wellness began.”
