Ricky Martin Accused Of Domestic Violence & Incest By Having Romantic Relationship With 21–Year-Old Nephew, Could Face 50 Years In Prison
Ricky Martin Could Face 50 Years in Prison After Allegations Of Incest Arise In Domestic Violence Restraining Order
Nearly two weeks after denying domestic violence allegations filed against him in Puerto Rico, Ricky Martin’s accuser has been revealed and new alarming details have surfaced.
After the complaint was made anonymously under Law 54– known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act– Ricky Martin’s brother Eric Martin revealed the victim is reportedly the singers 21-year-old nephew Dennis Yadiel Sanchez.
According to allegations made by Sanchez, he allegedly ended a seven-month relationship with his Uncle, Ricky Martin, 50, and that the “Tu recuerdo” singer did not take it well, consistently reaching out to him and loitering outside his home. Sanchez also claimed that there was physical and psychological abuse that occurred during the relationship.
Under Puerto Rican law, allegations of incest are taken very seriously. If proven guilty, the singer could be sentenced up to 50 years in prison.
Earlier this month, Reps for Ricky Martin spoke out against the allegations and said,
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated. We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
On Sunday (July 3), the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer took to Twitter and firmly denied the allegations against him with optimism that this would all be resolved. He wrote,
“The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me. Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”
The legal battle is set to begin on July 21.
Ricky Martin has not made any further statements on the matter.
