Chrissy Teigen Announces Pregnancy, Nearly 2 Years After Loss Of Son: Joy Has Filled Our Home And Hearts Again
Chrissy Teigen revealed her pregnancy in a heartwarming post on Instagram.
Television personality Chrissy Teigen, 36, announced that she and her Grammy-Award-winning husband John Legend, 43, are expecting again, after the tragic loss of their son Jack nearly two years ago.
The couple is already parents to Luna, 6, and Miles, 4, who were both conceived using in vitro fertilization (IVF), which was also used for this pregnancy.
Her post said:
“The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.”
Chrissy Teigen also revealed her anxiety about the pregnancy in her post.
She continued:
“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”
As previously reported, the couple, who married in September 2013, announced they were trying for another baby earlier this year after the stillborn birth of their son Jack in Sept. 2020.
In April of 2021, Chrissy Teigen spoke about being in therapy to deal with the loss of their son Jack and her struggle with carrying children.
At the time she said:
“I’m in therapy and something that I talk about often is, I just don’t understand how I can’t [carry children] because I have a really healthy uterus now. I think one lingering thing is that Jack was so healthy, and it was just something with my body that was not right at that time.”
The “Chrissy’s Court” host also said she wanted to try again and was open to surrogacy, as the couple already had frozen embryos in anticipation of adding to their family.
She continued:
“In my mind, I’m like, ‘I need to try again, though. I want to try again. I believe my body’s in a better place than it was.”
Earlier this year, John Legend said Luna and Miles were aware their parents were trying for another baby, and they were excited.
The EGOT winner also shared that he and Teigen are so transparent about their grief and hardships with conceiving because they know there are many others who are experiencing the same challenges.
He said:
“Whether it’s IVF, or other fertility struggles, whether it’s losing a pregnancy, I think both of us have felt like it’s good for us to share this with other people because other people are going through it too, we don’t think they should suffer in silence without knowing there are other people out there who are feeling the same thing.”
We’re sending well wishes to Chrissy Teigen and John Legend for their new bundle of joy on the way!
