R. Kelly’s ‘Fiancée’ Joycelyn Savage Writes Tell-All Book On Life In His ‘Shadow’

R. Kelly’s longtime girlfriend and alleged fiancée — Joycelyn Savage is set to release a tell-all book about her relationship with the disgraced R&B star.

In an email message to sources, Joycelyn Savage, 26, confirmed the book will be called “Love and Joy of Robert” and “should be published on Saturday.” She wrote:

“All I can say is that it is about Robert, the beginning of my life in Robert’s shadow, where things began to take off, and where they are currently going.”

According to reports, when speaking with sources, Savage would neither confirm nor deny that she and R. Kelly (born Robert Sylvester Kelly) are engaged. Instead she replied,

“Everything will be answered in my book.”

Savage also remained secretive on whether the book would be self-published or through an established publishing house, or where the book would be available.

As previously reported, Joycelyn Savage penned a letter to a federal judge in July ahead of R. Kelly’s sentencing referring to herself as Kelly’s fiancée and asking that he receive a more lenient sentence for his decades-long sexual abuse of women and underage girls and boys. She wrote:

“My relationship with Robert is amazing. He’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. We have a very special connection and are deeply in love. I still support Robert to this day because I love him and will always be here to support him.”

She continued,

“Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind. At the end of the day, he has always made sure that I’m taken care of, and any other women he was with as well..He is a great man, with a great heart and deserves to be home with his loved ones who are ready to support him.”

The 55-year-old was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of all counts of sex trafficking and racketeering by a New York jury on Wednesday (June 29). Following his sentencing, the “Trapped In The Closet” singer prepared to go before a second jury in Illinois.

Joycelyn Savage first made headlines back in 2019, when it was revealed that she and another woman (Azriel Clary) were both R.Kelly’s girlfriends and had suffered abuse while living with him together. Joycelyn’s parents claimed that she was being held against her will and was brainwashed. Joycelyn has denied these claims.

Savage’s parents, Jonjelyn and Timothy, have been publicly pleading for their daughter to leave Kelly. They were interviewed in-depth in the six-part tell-all series “Surviving R. Kelly: Part II: The Reckoning” in 2020. Her parents recently made headlines when they spoke out against the alleged engagement, noting that they don’t believe it.

Joycelyn Savage’s parents’ attorney, Gerald Griggs, stated Joycelyn Savage never announced the engagement to their families and it was never discussed about the possibility prior. Reports stated Griggs found it weird that Savage didn’t testify about it under oath but wrote a letter to the court instead.

In a recent interview, Savage’s family said they don’t buy the engagement story. Her father, Timothy Savage, had this to say:

“We tried to reach out to Joycelyn when my father passed. We have always reached out to his camp, Robert’s investors camp, in the same time we had to reach out to his camp through my father, the same way his time jumped from his mother. No response what’s so ever. It’s time up for that. It’s just time out for all that.”

A family member continued:

“Joycelyn we need to hear from you directly. We’ve always heard through third parties information. We weren’t able to hear from her directly without prison calls, where the calls are scripted and they are known to be scripted.

Timothy Savage added:

“Everybody wanna say she’s grown. Let me hear from a grown woman. I wanna hear from my daughter. That’s what I wanna hear from. I don’t wanna hear from no third party. I wanna hear exactly from Joycelyn Savage, period.”
