Will Smith and his wife of 28 years, actress Jada Pinkett Smith were spotted in Malibu on Saturday (Aug. 13). This is the first time the couple has been seen in public since the Oscars incident back in March when Will Smith, 53, slapped Chris Rock following a G.I jane comparison joke made about Jada Pinkett Smith, who battles alopecia.

A source said:

 “Will is doing good. He spends a lot of time with Jada. He is very happy about her constant support. They are very close and back each other up. Family is everything to them.”

The source continued:

“Will feels like he ‘learned a lot in the past few months.’”

The source added:

“Will is happy about the support he always gets from Jada.”

As previously reported, on Friday (July 29) Will Smith, who is banned from attending events for the Academy for a decade, released a public apology on social media to Chris Rock, 57, and his family. The King Richard actor said:

“I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that he’s not ready to talk. And when he is, he will reach out. So I will say to you, Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable. and I’m here whenever you’re ready to talk.”

Jada addressed the situation on an episode of her podcast The Red Table Talk. The 50-year-old said: 

“About Oscar night: My deepest hope is that these two intelligent, capable men have an opportunity to heal, talk this out and reconcile. With the state of the world today, we need ’em both, and we all actually need one another more than ever. Until then, Will and I are continuing to do what we have done for the last 28 years — and that’s [to] keep figuring out this thing called life together.”
