NeNe Leakes Takes Stroll Down ‘Memory Lane’ As She Remembers Late Husband Gregg One Year After His Death From Cancer

NeNe Leakes, 54, is remembering her late husband, Gregg Leakes, on the first anniversary of his death.

The widow took to Instagram on Friday (September 2) to share a video of them dancing together at a party as music played in the background — a beautiful moment to remember the good times they shared. NeNe Leakes also shared a series of photos of herself and her two-time husband via her IG stories.

In one photo, NeNe Leakes wrote,

“1 year in Heaven today! We love you and miss you sooooooooo much”

In another photo, she said,

“Memory lane”

Gregg Leakes was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2018. He died from the illness three years later, on September 1, 2021, at the age of 66. Prior to his death, Gregg Leakes appeared alongside NeNe for her entire 12-season run on RHOA, building a reputation for always having his wife’s back.

The pair first married in 1997, but went on to get divorced in 2011. The second-time was apparently the charm in their case, because they remarried in 2013 — with their union being documented on Bravo’s third RHOA spin-off I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding — and remained happily in love until his death.

NeNe‘s anniversary date tribute comes two weeks after she honored Gregg on what would’ve been his 67th birthday. In an Instagram post, she said,

“Missing the man that always had a plan!

Today is a tuff one…every year on this date we would be out celebrating you! I can’t believe we are wishing you a heavenly Birthday today. I feel like you went somewhere and you’ll be back.

I miss you everyday Gregg!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH”

During an interview in June of this year, NeNe opened up about being without her husband while living life in the public eye. She said,

“I have a lot of highs and lows you know it’s a lot…I think that, when people see you functioning that they think that you’re ok and you don’t need anybody but I’m still very much in need….it hasn’t been a full year yet….I’ve been through a lot of transition over the last year….but I have a great support system around me though.”

While NeNe is a mother of two, she and Gregg only shared one son, 23-year-old Brentt Leakes.

The reality TV star has since moved on to Atlanta fashion designer Nyonisela Sioh, whom she reportedly began dating three months after the death of her late husband. While some social media users believe she moved on kind of quickly, Brentt Leakes apparently approves of his mother’s new romance.
