Jadakiss Admits He Hated Ghostwriting For Diddy: I Used To Feel Like It Was Taking Away Too Much Of Me

Jadakiss is opening up about the time he spent writing for P. Diddy and how much he hated it.

Jadakiss, born Jason Terrance Phillips, appeared in a recent episode of The Personal Party Podcast, to discuss his “deadly” pen over the years when it came to his tracks and the tracks he’s written for others. Jadakiss discussed having to write from a “P. Diddy” perspective, which was difficult at the time being that Diddy, born Sean Combs, was already established and Jadakiss was coming up in the hip-hop industry. The 47-year-old shared:

“I really hated it.”

He continued:

“Puff, after giving him ‘The Benjamins,’ ‘Seniorita,’ ‘Victory,’ a couple remixes. I used to feel like it was taking away too much of me. I ain’t know how to morph.”

The rapper added:

“Ain’t like he was a n*gg* that I knew from my old life and I could just describe him how I think he should be, like I couldn’t, I ain’t feel like I could write the bars for myself and give it to him cause I ain’t feel like it fit it. He had too much money, I was still extra gringey. My mind couldn’t think about that much Versace’s or being on that type of financial level so it used to conflict with me writing for him.”

The Yonkers native then said:

“But he used to just tell me ‘gimmie the sh*t that you would say for you,’ but I’m like ‘it ain’t gon’ fit for you.’ But he used to know how to make it work I just didn’t, til I got older and knew how easy it was, I ain’t really, nah mean –”
