Takeoff – Video Footage Shows Quavo Arguing w/ Others Before Gunfire + Eye Witnesses Claim The Incident Was Not Over A Dice Game

More details are surfacing surrounding the tragic death of Takeoff.

According to new video footage obtained by TMZ, Quavo was in a heated argument with a group of men while attending a private party in Houston, Texas in the early hours of Tuesday (Nov.1). Reportedly, Takeoff was not engaged in the dispute but he was standing a couple of feet away from Quavo.

In the video, you can see and hear Quavo arguing with someone. There’s a discussion about playing basketball, and someone– possibly Quavo–says “I don’t get down like that!” Seconds later, you hear a single gunshot followed by a string of gunshots thereafter. Chaos ensued, with people running in all directions to escape. According to reports, Takeoff was struck near his head and torso. Unfortunately, despite efforts to resuscitate him–made by Quavo and a bystander– he was pronounced dead on the scene.

Since the tragic shooting, eyewitnesses have come out to give their side of what took place. While early reports stated that the men were arguing over a dice game, some witnesses say that is far from the truth. A social media user took to Twitter claiming that she was at the scene of the crime and witnessed everything go down. She wrote:

“Ima speak on this bc I feel like I got to… I was there right next to takeoff they wasn’t arguing about shooting dice quavo was pressed and takeoff was hit by stray bullets shot for no reason RIP Takeoff he didn’t deserve that he was to himself the whole night.”

She then shared a screenshot of a lengthy text message detailing the incident and seemingly blaming Quavo for the altercation that turned deadly.

Another witness spoke out and also agreed that the altercation had nothing to do with a dice game. While trying to keep her identity unknown, the witness gave little detail of what happened. Unlike the other witness, this person defended Quavo and made it clear that it wasn’t his fault. From her point of view, both Quavo and Takeoff were trying to mediate the situation.

Members of the Houston Police Department held a press conference Tuesday afternoon and revealed a 23-year-old male and a 24-year-old female were also hit and went to a hospital for treatment. Cops say most of the witnesses to the shooting fled the scene. Law enforcement is asking them to come forward with information about what happened. The investigation into Takeoff’s murder is still ongoing.
