Porsha Williams & Simon Goubadia Tied The Knot TWICE Over The Weekend: If Extra Was A Bride, It Would Be Me

Porsha Williams doubled down on her love for Simon Guobadia with two weddings!

Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Porsha Williams, 41, married businessman Simon Guobadia, 57, after more than one year of dating in a traditional Nigerian native law and custom ceremony on Friday (Nov. 25). The following day (Nov. 26) the love birds held a second lavish, star-studded American ceremony in Atlanta.

Their first wedding was a celebration of their love and Simon Guobadia’s Nigerian culture, which a total of 250 guests reportedly attended. Many of the attendees wore traditional Nigerian clothing. Porsha looked stunning in a velvet red gown with feather detailing designed by Lakimmy.

During a recent interview that took place ahead of their nuptials, Simon shared how happy he was that Porsha had no problem embracing his culture. He said,

“To embrace my culture and want to be married in that fashion is something that blows my mind. I think some of the folks we brought on to help us go through the whole ceremony and that whole process were surprised that she knew so much already about the outfits, the clothing, the names and all of that. She’s immersed herself in the culture, I’d say in the last year.”

On Saturday (Nov. 26), the couple sealed the deal during an American wedding in front of 350 family, friends, and Bravolebrities. Their guest list included many familiar faces, such as; Kandi Burruss, Drew Sidora, Cynthia Bailey, Monyetta Shaw, Quad Webb, Wendy Osefo, Monique Samuels, Gizelle Bryant, and Kim Zolciak-Biermann.

Also in attendance were VH1 stars Jennifer Williams, Yandy and Mendeecees Harris, and Karlie Redd. Comedian Rickey Smiley, Dish Nation host Da Brat and wife Jessica Dupart, rapper/actor T.I. and wife/singer Tiny Harris show up as well.

While chatting about their big day, Porsha revealed that she purposefully selected her guests.

“It’s important for me because I’ve had another big event in my life before, and all I remember seeing was flashing lights and pictures being taken every single minute. I just really want people to be in the moment. This guest list, everyone there was handpicked by the both of us. These are people that we care about, these are people that we love, people who have supported us, and we really want them there to feel their energy and for us to celebrate our love together.”

The former Dish Nation host added an extra touch of love by putting close family and friends in key roles on her big day. Porsha Williams, who wore a white lace Frida ballgown during the American ceremony, was escorted down the aisle by her brother Hosea Williams III. Shamea Morton, her long-time best friend, served as maid of honor, while her sister Lauren served as matron of honor. In the days leading up to the event, she provided more details, noting how she planned on involving her three-year-old daughter Pilar.

Porsha said,

“Pilar is going to be a flower girl, and her dress is so cute, I could’ve copied it for a wedding gown.”

She continued,

“Then my niece, Baleigh, my sister’s daughter, is going to be another flower girl. Our daughter, Ximena, is going be a junior bridesmaid. Our sons, Christian and Benjamin, are going to walk my grandmother down the aisle. Simon’s oldest son, Quentin, is going to walk him down the aisle.”

According to reports, Grammy-Award-winning gospel singer Tasha Cobbs-Leonard sang “For Every Mountain” with a 40-piece orchestra as the bride walked down the aisle. The reception ball was held at the St. Regis Atlanta. There was a surprise performance for guests by R&B Group Dru Hill.

When Porsha booked the group, she already had a special song request in mind.

“I really wanted to hear the song ‘Beauty Is Her Name. I have always thought about having on a wedding dress and dancing to it. And then my husband would say, ‘Beauty Is Her Name.’ I love Dru Hill and am so glad the whole group is back together.”

Although the events were two very different affairs, both were still over the top. In fact, Porsha changed her wardrobe seven times over the two-day celebration. Additionally, the wedding cake was reportedly so tall, it had to be cut with a sword.

“If extra was a bride, it’d be me. I promise you I did not know that I was this extra.”

Guests were asked to unplug for the weekend. No phones or cameras were allowed. The JasmineBrand was the first outlet to break the story that the two had married over the weekend.

The couple began dating in May 2021 and got engaged one month later.
