Update: Tory Lanez Released From House Arrest As His Trial For Allegedly Shooting Megan Thee Stallion Starts Jury Selection
Update: (Dec. 05, 2022): Tory Lanez is no longer on house arrest.
According to reports, the rapper/singer has been freed from his ankle monitor “as his trial for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion begins with jury selection in L.A.”
Overruling a prosecution objection, Judge David Herriford reportedly said,
“I’m doing this mainly for the trial preparation aspect.”
Openings for the highly-anticipated trial are set to start on December 12.
Original Story: (Oct. 26, 2022): It looks like Tory Lanez will have more than enough time to prepare for his trial with Megan Thee Stallion.
A judge has placed the Canadian rapper under house arrest until the trial kicks off, which is slated to begin on November 28. The move comes after Tory Lanez allegedly punched fellow singer/rapper August Alsina in an elevator for refusing to shake his hand. Following the occurrence, August Alsina recounted the event on his Instagram page, where he posted a photo of the bloody wounds seemingly inflicted by Tory Lanez.
In the opinion of the prosecutors, Tory violated the terms of his bail in the Megan Thee Stallion case and should’ve been kept in custody. They believe he still poses a risk to the public’s safety and that monetary bail was insufficient to serve as a deterrent.
Shawn Holley, Tory’s attorney, disagreed. He pointed out that the incident involving August Alsina was mere accusations and that no charges had been brought against his client. Still, the judge issued a Friday start date for Tory’s confinement to his home with a GPS ankle monitor.
