Tory Lanez – Key LAPD Witness In Criminal Trial Won’t Testify After Domestic Violence Accusations Against Detective Surface
New details have surfaced in the Tory Lanez, Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.
A key witness previously scheduled to take the stand in Tory Lanez’s upcoming criminal trial will no longer testify after domestic violence allegations against the witness surfaced.
Former LAPD detective, Ryan Stogner, who interviewed Megan Thee Stallion after the alleged assault against the female rapper, was let go from the department following accusations of domestic violence, according to Radar Online.
Reports claim Stogner was previously set to appear as a key witness in Tory Lanez’s trial because he was the investigating officer in charge when Megan Thee Stallion first accused the Canadian rapper of shooting her in the feet in July 2020.
According to Rolling Stone senior reporter Nancy Dillon, it was announced Wednesday (Dec.7) that former Detective Stogner would no longer be called to testify. Dillon tweeted:
“Tory Lanez Trial Update: LAPD Det. Ryan Stogner ‘relieved of duty’ in last month, prosecutors reveal in court. Lanez’s atty George Mgdesyan says on the record the ‘underlying’ reason for dismissal was a [domestic violence] allegation…Prosecutors say no charges filed [and] they won’t call him [at] trial.”
Dillon also revealed Tory’s defense attorney, George Mgdesyan, previously planned to call Stogner to the witness stand over the theory that the former LAPD detective “botched” the Tory and Megan investigation. Dillon wrote:
“Mgdesyan says Stogner, who was the investigating officer who interviewed Megan The Stallion after the shooting, is a critical witness for the defense. He told court he plans to call him under the theory Stogner “botched” the investigation. Judge says he would allow.”
Tory Lanez is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet while the two were together in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood at about 4:30 a.m. on July 12, 2020. He was initially charged with two counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon and carrying a loaded, unregistered weapon inside a moving vehicle. on Monday (December 5) prosecutors added a third charge of discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
On Wednesday morning, just as his trial began, the “Say It” rapper took to Twitter to share a cryptic tweet.
Tory Lanez said,
“I’m going to leave this here one more time …and watch how it ages … NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER … AND EVERY TONGUE THAT RISES AGAINST ME IN JUDGEMENT SHALL BE CONDEMNED u sit and watch now …. And don’t ever question the GOD I serve again . This is my last tweet”
The opening statements in the trial are scheduled to take place on Dec. 12, according to reports. Tory gave the court judge his list of potential defense witnesses. The “Say It” singer reportedly intends to call reality TV star Kylie Jenner and her mother’s boyfriend Corey Gamble as witnesses. According to Tory’s legal team, the dispute that led to the incident that night began at Kylie Jenner’s pool party in Los Angeles, which Corey Gamble also attended.
