Meek Mill Says Sorry After Interrupting Gervonta Davis Fight Due To Altercation w/ Boxer Gary Russell Jr.: My Apologies, I Had A Few Shots [VIDEO]

Rapper Meek Mill nearly took fight night too literally!

While attending Saturday (January 7th) nights Gervonta Davis vs Hector Luis Garcia boxing match, Meek Mill had a heated exchange with boxing champion Gary Russell Jr.

The 35-year-old musician spoke about the altercation in a series of tweets, after footage from the incident began to gain traction. Congratulating Davis, who took the win in the 9th round, Meek wrote:

“Congratulations tankkk!!! I almost fought a boxer telling him this fight not going 12 rounds I missed the big bomb!!!!”

And followed up with:

“I would never let no petty sh*t escalate to let somebody movie run …. I just walked away .. I came to support tank and boots!!!!!! Good wins”

Video clips confirmed that the boxer in question was featherweight star Gary Russell Jr. Reportedly, the athlete attended the match with a few of his brothers to root against Davis. It’s said the two have ongoing beef outside of the ring that has yet to come to a head professionally.

According to Meek, the argument stemmed from he and Russell disagreeing on how long Davis‘ fight would go on. The “Going Bad” artist stated he had no bad intentions getting into it with Russell, and was only meeting aggression with aggression. It was also rumored that podcaster Wallo intervened and quelled the hostility before the situation blew up. The “Million Dollaz Worth Of Game” interviewed Davis on the show days before the match.

Additionally, Meek shared that alcohol certainly played a role in how things escalated. Explaining and apologizing for his actions via Twitter, he continued:

“I was nice to everybody at that fight if you was there you saw! The blogs gone put up the aggressive part after I respond to something aggressive … everybody in that section seen my level of respect towards others… i just gotta step my response game up!”

And ending with:

“I have no business going back and forth that hard with a random person and we just talking about sports…so my apologies for wasting time for nothing! I had a few shots I know how to dodge those! Congrats Tank and boots!!!”

It appears Gary Russell Jr. nor any of his associates have spoken about the incident publicly.
