‘The Best Man Final Chapters’ Sets Peacock Record For Highest Streaming Debut + Becomes Network’s 1st Streaming Series To Land On Nielson Top 10
Fans can’t seem to get enough of “The Best Man” family!
According to reports, the latest installment of the franchise, “The Best: The Man Final Chapters“, recently set multiple records at Peacock – becoming the network’s highest series debut and landing them a spot on the Nielson Top 10 Streaming Chart.
The eight episode limited series stars all of its original cast, which includes Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Melissa De Sousa, Sanaa Lathan, Harold Perrineau, and an appearance by Monica Calhoun. Reportedly, upon its opening weekend December 22nd, the series marked Peacock’s highest original series debut. Previously, the “Fresh Prince” drama remake “Bel-Air” reportedly held the title.

Additionally, the program is reportedly ranked #5 in an early version of Nielson’s Top 10 Steaming Originals chart. The report notes this marks Peacock’s first piece of original content to do so. It seems that nostalgic projects, specifically for Black audience’s, has seen the most success for the green streaming network. Reportedly, the newest “Best Man” installment was well received by users, just as “Bel-Air”.

The original movie, “The Best Man” was was released in 1999 and the sequel, “The Best Man Holiday” in 2013. Despite it being more than eight years since its last installment premiered, the limited series has continued to drive up numbers since its debut. “The Final Chapters” raps up the story of the series main characters 20 years after they became widely popular.
Speaking on the conclusion of the series, creator Malcolm D. Lee, says he believes the new project is the end for the characters. During a previous interview he stated:
“This is a fitting way to tie up the legacy of these characters. I don’t have any more stories to tell. Maybe I will in 20 more years, but the way I feel right now, I’ve gone as far as I can with these characters,”

“The Best Man: The Final Chapters” is now streaming on Peacock.
