Lauren London Supports ‘You People’ Co-star Jonah Hill’s Decision To Not Do Press Over Mental Health Concerns: Whatever He Needs To Do For His Soul, I Am There For It

Lauren London is here for Jonah Hill protecting his mental health, no matter what!

On Jan. 17 Lauren London made an appearance at the “You People” premiere, which took place at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. While giving a red carpet interveiw, the actress weighed in on her co-star Jonah Hill’s decision to skip out on press as a way to protect his mental health. Lauren London defended the “21 Jump Street” actor and said,

“Life is tough for all of us.”

London, 38, added:

“For us to pretend that we’re stronger than others and we can handle more, that’s unfair. I hold space for Jonah Hill. That’s my homeboy. I love him and whatever he needs to do for his soul, I am there for it.”

“You People,” which premieres on Netflix on Jan. 27 and in select theaters tomorrow (Jan. 20), is a romantic comedy that centers around an interracial couple (portrayed by Lauren London and Jonah Hill) and their families. The project also stars Eddie Murphy and Nia Long.

Jonah Hill co-wrote the film alongside its director Kenya Barris, who recently faced mixed reviews following the teaser release for “You People.” As you may recall, earlier this month many social media users accused the creator of always pushing the same storyline centered around mixed-raced couples.

It should come as no surprise that Hill isn’t doing press for his current project. In a social media post shared last August, he revealed he was refraining from press campaigns. He wrote:

“Through this journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events.”

Hill added:

“You won’t see me out there promoting this film, or any of my upcoming films, while I take this important step to protect myself. If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film.”

Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who appears in the upcoming Netflix movie, also mentioned her support of Hill’s decision:

“You have to protect yourself and do what feels right to you.”

She continued:

“I want to get out there and support the project because we worked really hard on this, but at the end of the day I’m going to go home and be with my family.”
