De La Soul Rapper David Jolicoeur, Known As Trugoy the Dove, Has Died [CONDOLENCES]
According to reports, De La Soul member and co-founder Trugoy the Dove died at the age of 54. Trugoy the Dove, born David Jolicoeur, passed away on Sunday (Feb. 12) in a Maryland hospital from apparent natural causes and an undisclosed illness he was battling. In the past, Trugoy the Dove said he was suffering from congestive heart failure and was living with a LifeVest machine affixed to his person.

Last week, De La Soul was present at the 65th Grammy Award ceremony where the Long Island rap group was a part of the tribute celebrating 50 years of hip-hop. Unfortunately, Trugoy the Dove didn’t join his bandmates, Kelvin Mercer (Posdnuos) and Vincent Mason (Maseo), onstage.

De La Soul
De La Soul, who got together in 1987, is known for many hits including “Me, Myself and I,” “Eye Know,” “Breakadawn,” “Oooh,” “Buddy,” “I Am I Be,” and “Ego Trippin (Part 2).” The group produced three albums throughout their career, two of them being certified platinum and gold. In addition, three of their smash hits were nominated for a Grammy Award.
