Rihanna Reveals Why She & A$AP Rocky Decided To Share The First Initial Images Of Their Son Via A Blog & On TikTok: We Get To Decide As Parents When & How We Do That

Rihanna is getting candid about the real reason she decided to share images of her son via social media.

During a recent interview, the singer revealed that the paparazzi captured an image of her young son during a photo shoot they were having. Rihanna and A$AP Rocky wanted to take control of the situation before the photographer had a chance to sell the images for a large amount of money.

Rihanna recalled,

“It’s the thing you never want to happen. We get to decide as parents when and how we do that. End of story.”

She continued,

“Throw me to the wolves. Do what you want with me. But he doesn’t have a say in any of this. We’ve been protecting him thus far and you don’t have any consent to be posting photos or selling photos of my child, a minor. Get the hell out of here with that.”

Rihanna then shared that following the incident with the photographer, she and A$AP Rocky had to think fast and come up with a solution.

“I just went straight into protective mode. Like, there wasn’t even time for rage. [Rocky and me] drove up to the trailer area and we sat in the car chatting and working out how we move forward. As parents it just feels so icky, like a violation. As we were speaking, we knew they were making calls and deals.”

The couple ultimately decided to share the images of their son themselves before the paparazzi leaked any photos. Rihanna sent a couple of candid images of her son to a trusted blogger. She then joined TikTok and posted an adorable video of her son.

The “Lift Me Up” singer then gushed over her relationship with A$AP Rocky and how having a baby has made them even closer.

“We’re best friends with a baby. We have to be on the same page, but we’ve always kind of had that in our relationship. Everything changes when you have a baby but I wouldn’t say it’s done anything but made us closer.”

During her interview, Rihanna also reflected on the bond that A$AP Rocky and her son share.

“I’m just sitting on the sidelines when they’re together. I’m literally the girl trying to get into the boys club, waiting for my turn. He is obsessed with his father. And I’m like: ‘Didn’t I give birth to you? What is going on?’”

She continued,

“Their connection is undeniable. The second Rocky makes eye contact with him he is on fire. The whole thing they say about sons and moms, it’s a myth. Sons and fathers is crazy. I realised that the validation that you really need as a boy is from your father.”

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky welcomed their baby boy in May 2022, in Los Angeles. The couple was first reported to be dating in December 2020, however, they are longtime friends.

Earlier this week, the pop superstar announced that she and A$AP Rocky are expecting baby #2. Following her long-awaited performance on the Super Bowl halftime stage, Rihanna’s representative revealed that she is pregnant.
