Tyler Perry is shutting down rumors that his co-star Cassi Davis passed away.
There’s been reports that the House Of Payne actress died from lung cancer. Now, Tyler Perry is setting the record straight.
On Monday (Feb. 20), the director who has worked with Cassi Davis on a several films and tv shows took to Instagram to inform fans that the beloved actress is alive.
Tyler Perry wrote,
“After I’ve gotten several calls from people giving me their condolences and I didn’t know what they were talking about, I was sent this article that’s going around. I don’t know how she could have died and nobody told me or her. So I called her and asked her was she dead and she said hell no!”

Perry continued,
“Can whoever is responsible for this please stop you better be careful when you speak death over a child of God. This woman is loved by millions and you’re hurting a lot of people. Cassi is fine living her best life with no worries, no cares, no social media, and no drama. She’s waiting to shoot the next season of House of Payne.”
Perry also took to his Instagram story to share a screenshot of Cassi’s death trending on Google. He captioned the post,
“Look how lies can trend!! Lord help us all.”

The now viral hoax started after a Facebook user shared a link to an article claiming that the Aunt Bam actress had died of lung cancer. Within a couple of hours, the shocking hoax spread not only on Facebook but on TikTok and Twitter as well.
As no surprise, social media had a lot to say about the hoax. While many realized the rumors weren’t true, some fans were unsure and believed the actress had passed away.
One user wrote,
“Whoever lied and said Cassie Davis was dead will not see heaven.”
Another person said,
“Why am I JUST now finding out that Cassie Davis passed away? WTF?”
