Halle Bailey officially has her own “The Little Mermaid” Ariel doll!

On Monday (March 6), TV and film star Halle Bailey took to social media to share a first look at Mattel’s “The Little Mermaid” doll and an even closer look at how she’ll be portrayed in the upcoming Disney live-action film.

According to reports, early Monday morning, Amazon’s Italian site began a pre-sale for the doll.

In an uploaded clip, “The Little Mermaid” actress cheerfully says,

“Today, I have something really exciting to reveal to you all. I am gonna cry.”

Halle Bailey continues,

“This is the new Little Mermaid doll. I am literally choking up because this means so much to me. And to have one that looks like me that’s my favorite Disney character is very surreal. And look, she even has my mole! See! Look! And the hair and the tail! The bottom of it, it could be in the water.”

The 22-year-old singer adds,

“I’m just stunned. So, I don’t quite know what to do with it, but I’m going to steal this, and take it home and hide it forever.”

Although we have yet to see a full trailer for the film, “The Little Mermaid” is set to premiere on May 26.

During a recent interview, Halle spoke on some of the online outrage she has received since being cast in the starring role of the Disney film. As previously reported, Halle stated about the matter,

“As a black person, you just expect it and it’s not really a shock anymore.”

She continued,

“I never read my comments. Don’t ever read the comments…When the teaser came out, I was at the D23 Expo and I was so happy. I didn’t see any of the negativity.”

The “Grown-ish” alum said the importance of her portrayal in the big-budget film outweighs any slander. She stated,

“People don’t understand that when you’re black there’s this whole other community…it’s so important for us to see ourselves.”
