Tory Lanez Says Prosecutors Violated His “Right To Counsel” By Suggesting His Lawyers Attempted To Bribe Kelsey Harris, Fueling Guilty Verdict In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Trial
Canadian rap star Tory Lanez’s continues to fight for his freedom.
As we previously reported, the 31-year old recently filed a motion to have his guilty conviction overturned in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting trial that concluded last year. Now, new details from the legal doc reportedly suggest Tory Lanez had his constitutional rights violated by prosecution.

In our previous report, we noted that Tory Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, alleged that number of errors made during the lengthy trial caused his aforementioned conviction. Reportedly, the Chixtape artist says several pieces of evidence, including an instagram comment and pictures of his gun tattoo, should not have legally been able to withstand.

Additionally, the court document suggests that Lanez was briefly left without legal representation during the trial due to damaging baseless claims. Allegedly, the musician’s former lawyer Shawn Holley quit on him after prosecutors insinuated his team attempted to bribe Kelsey Harris for a favorable testimony. Legal affairs reporter Meghan Cuniff , who published an in depth analysis of Lanez’s recent motion, writes:
“Their motion argues prosecutors “heavily overstated the value of Instagram post” and also overinflated the inconclusive DNA evidence found on the gun used in the shooting…It also argues prosecutors presented a false “history of criminality” for Lanez and were mistakingly allowed to play for the jury Harris’ entire 80-minute pre-trial interview with prosecutors”

Adding:
“And it argues prosecutors interfered with Lanez’s right to counsel by suggesting his original lawyer, Shawn Holley of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP, had tried to bribe Harris. Holley “stepped back” from representing Lanez 12 days before trial, then quit altogether mid-trial.”
If you recall, the former bestie of Megan Thee Stallion, born Megan Pete, gave a very uncertain testimony during the trial. Kelsey Harris did confirm, however, that she had conversations with Lanez about paying for her legal team ahead of the court session. There is no reported evidence, however, that confirmed the accusation other than Harris‘ account of the situation.

At this time, Lanez remains behind bars awaiting sentencing. The singer/songwriter was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, vehicle possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence after shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020.
