Tabitha Brown Opens Up About Why She Blamed Herself For Years After She Was Raped: ‘I Convinced Myself That’s What You Get, You Deserved That, That Was Your Punishment’

Tabitha Brown is opening up about the blame she placed on herself after being sexually assaulted.

The author/actress recently took to TikTok to share with her five million followers what happened when she was raped at 15 years old. Tabitha Brown – who also talks about the experience in her first book “Feeding The Soul – said:

“When I was 15 in high school, I snuck out my mama house and took her car, me and two friends. There was a party happening at a hotel in the next city and we were like, ‘Let’s go. There will be boys.’”

Upon arriving at the party, she noticed a cute guy who she’s encountered before but didn’t know very well. The vegan celebrity continued:

“There was a guy who I thought liked me.”

 Tabitha Brown added:

“That night, I ended up being raped by him. It wasn’t a brutal rape. When sometimes people hear rape and only think that it has to be one way.”

Tabitha Brown then shared that following the heartbreaking incident, she blamed herself for the rape.

 Brown said:

“For years, I blamed myself. I had snuck out my mama house, I had taken her car, and I had went to this party and I knew better. In my mind I convinced myself ‘that’s what you get, you deserved that, that was your punishment.’”

The mother of two is now on a self-healing journey and is looking at life from a different perspective. She noted:

“In my adult life I realized, and in the healing journey that I’m on, that there is absolutely never any reason to be raped.”

Brown advised her fans, who may relate to her situation, to never blame themselves for the poor actions of others. She also admitted that nobody knew about the trauma she experienced in 1994 until five years ago. Revealing that her secrets were making her sick, she said:

“The other part of that is that I kept it a secret for a very long time. Up until about five years ago, nobody knew, only the two friends who were with me that night.”
