Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts Signs $255 Million Extension Deal, Becoming Highest-Paid Player In NFL History
Congratulations are in order for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts!
According to reports, Jalen Hurts recently inked a new deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and they have agreed on a five-year, $255 million extension deal. This officially makes the professional quarterback the highest-paid player in NFL history.

While only $179.304 million is guaranteed, Jalen Hurts’ latest, no-trade-clause arrangement has been deemed the largest in the league’s history of average annual value. $110 million was fully promised at signing, with $129 million to be paid out by March 2024.
Detailing the 24-year-old’s additional earnings, an official report from the NFL’s website read:
“[Jalen Hurts] can earn an additional $15 million in incentives, giving him an opportunity to make as much as $274.304 million through 2028, including $4.304 million that he would’ve been due in the last year of his original rookie contract this season. Hurts gets a raise in 2023, including a $23.294 million signing bonus, and will make $64 million through the first new year in 2024.”

According to reports, Hurts was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
After a successful induction, the sports giant eventually progressed to a full-time starter the following year, and by his third season, his heavyweight ability on the field (ultimately) prompted him to lead the Eagles to the Super Bowl LVII.
It’s (apparently) been a grand time in Hurts’ career. The Oklahoma native made history earlier this year as he and Patrick Mahomes — who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs — were the first Black starring quarterbacks to face off against each other in the Super Bowl.

Although young and still considered an NFL newbie, Hurts is recognized as one of the best, rising players in the league, with many on-the-field accolades to show for it.
