Bow Wow Recalls Diddy Once Reprimanding Him Over His Online Behavior, He Told Me: ‘Don’t Be Doing No Clown Sh*t, What’s Wrong w/ You?’

Bow Wow recently recalled an important conversation with Diddy that helped him to reverse his public image.

As you may already know, rapper and actor Bow Wow, 36, has become a topic of social media jokes over the years and would regularly find himself going viral for all the wrong reasons.

During a recent interview on Math Hoffa’s “My Expert Opinion” podcast, Bow Wow discussed the challenges he faced while transitioning from a child star to an adult in entertainment.

Reportedly, the “Let Me Hold You” rapper said that he had become a target of criticism on social media, seemingly due to the emergence of meme culture (typically an image that is circulated in a shared experience online.) He also admitted that his past behavior did not help his brand and he did little to reverse the public perception, stating,

“That’s when it was like ‘Okay, a lot of this sh*t is self-inflicted.’”

During the sit down, Bow Wow credits Diddy, 53, with opening his eyes to how his actions affected his brand, claiming the music mogul pulled him aside and confronted him over his social media antics a while back.

According to reports, Diddy had a conversation with Bow Wow during a pajama party he was hosting, which fellow rappers Nelly and Snoop Dogg also attended. The “Like Mike” actor recalled,

“That ni**a told me straight up: ‘Don’t be doing no clown sh*t. What’s wrong with you? Ni**a you know we don’t associate with no clown sh*t. You Bow ni**a, you better understand your brand and get out here and go to work.”

Diddy then told him, “You doing it to yourself,” and advised Bow Wow to,

“Be quiet, lay low, go to work and watch what’s gon’ happen.” 

Despite Diddy’s tough love, Bow Wow praises his talk with the Bad Boys Records founder which helped him turn things around. Bow Wow added,

“That conversation is what put everything in perspective for me. Once I had that conversation, I’m like ‘D*mn. I can’t be doing that dumb a** sh*t ’cause I’m around the top dogs.’”
