John Amos Denies Being Exploited After Daughter Starts GoFundMe On His Behalf Claiming Actor Was A Victim Of ‘Elder Abuse’
TV and film star John Amos is speaking out amid rumors about his health.
According to reports, the 83-year-old recently denied claims he’s being abused and exploited after his daughter, Shannon Amos, shared the accusations online.
Starting a GoFundMe – allegedly to raise money for her father’s expenses, Shannon Amos explained that John had been hospitalized, allegedly following a near-death experience, and needed money due to being “financially exploited” and abused. She wrote on the fundraiser page:
“On May 14th of this year, I received a distressing call from my dad, who was hospitalized far away in Memphis, Tennessee. Though I was out of the country, we managed a brief FaceTime conversation before his pain became too unbearable.”
“During the following weeks, my family and I unraveled a horrifying truth—my dad had fallen victim to elder abuse and financial exploitation. Determined to seek justice, we a are working closely with the Colorado Bureau of Investigations and the local Sheriff’s Department in my father’s home state.”
Shannon even took to Instagram live today (Jun. 8) to double down on the claims, also asking for prayers via her Instagram Stories. However, as news of Amos‘ situation began spreading, he reportedly released a statement to TMZ completely shooting down his daughter’s claims. The report stated:
“Growing up, John made me laugh. It breaks my heart that people can be so cruel.”
“This man has made an impeccable change in my life without even knowing. Thank you for your years of service and entertainment to the black community.”
