Charlamagne Tha God Praises Cardi B For Working w/ Rising Female Rappers, Says She’s Had Jay-Z & Drake Level Of Impact On The Hip Hop Community
It looks like Charlamagne Tha God is giving Cardi B her flowers.
During a recent interview on the ‘It’s Up There’ podcast, Charlamagne shared his thoughts on females in media/music and who’s influencing the culture today. While chatting with the radio personality, host Big Loon made a point that a lot of female rappers are collaborating with the newer and younger artists in the rap game. According to Charlamagne, Cardi B was the one who started that trend.
He explained,
“Salute to Cardi. Cardi shifted that in the culture. Because Cardi made it to where, you’re the OG, you the person that’s made all the money, you sold all the records, but you have no problem putting your arm around that next person.”

Cardi B
He then made a comparison between Cardi B, Jay-Z, and Drake.
“Cardi did for female rap what Jay-Z and Drake did. Jay-Z, whatever that next thing was out, Jay-Z was jumping on it. Whether it was Juvenile ‘Huh’, whether it was Rick Ross, whoever it was, Jay was jumping on it. Whether it was DMX, whatever it was, Jay was on it. 50 Cent, Jay was jumping on it. Drake did the same thing. Drake did it with lesser known artist.”

Drake
Charlamagne continued,
“What Drake did was make the record big, I think what Jay did with those co-signs he made the artist big….I feel like he made those artist big, I feel like Drake made the song big. I think Cardi is doing both. I think Cardi’s helping to make the artist big and she’s helping to make the music big. ‘Cause Cardi don’t just do the verse. She do the video, she goes live with them like talking about how ‘Yo, this that motherf***er.’ Tweets about them.”
Cardi B is definitely known for showing camaraderie towards other female rappers in the game and helping to elevate the up-and-coming talent.
The Bronx rapper recently teamed up with Latto for her ‘Put It On Da Floor’ remix which took the No. 7 spot on Apple Music’s top songs chart in its opening week. In addition, the track has amassed 27 Million views on Youtube since the release of its viral music video.
Cardi B has also collaborated with other female artists like GloRilla, Megan The Stallion, City Girls, and Lizzo.
