Edward Enninful Announces Official Retirement Date As British Vogue’s Editor-In-Chief: ‘I Am Just So Excited For What Is Still To Come’
Edward Enninful has confirmed that the March 2024 issue will be his last as the Editor-In-Chief of British Vogue.
The news comes nearly two months after he announced that he will be stepping down from his current role at the famed publication.
Edward Enninful took to Instagram to share the update about his official exit date with his followers.
He wrote,
“With just seven issues left at @BritishVogue, I would love to know which issue was your favourite. March 2024 is my last @BritishVogue as EIC so set your clocks.”
He continued,
“With my final issues I’m in planning mode for sure with lots on my mind. The power of brilliant global change makers! The unbeatable creativity of the UK! And above all FASHION! More than anything, I am just so excited for what is still to come in the next seven months.”

Despite leaving his current position, Enninful will stay on at Vogue’s publishing house Condé Nast where he has worked for 25 years. He will become British Vogue’s global creative and cultural and editorial adviser.
When he first announced he would be leaving, he reportedly told staff that his new position meant he would,
“continue to contribute to the creative and cultural success of the Vogue brand globally while having the freedom to take on broader creative projects”
Edward Enninful has been at the center of British Vogue since 2017 when he took over from Alexandra Shulman. One of his first major plays was bringing on supermodels Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss and the film director Sir Steve McQueen as contributing editors.
Enninful became the first man and the first Black editor to hold the title of Editor-In-Chief. During his tenure at Vogue, the former model worked with some big-time A-listers such as the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, Beyoncé, Rihanna and ASAP Rocky, Zendaya, and Taylor Swift.
Many say Enninful transformed British Vogue and brought true diversity to the magazine.
