‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ Creator Robin Thede Donates Canceled Series’ Entire Wardrobe To Nonprofit That Provides Services For Homeless Women

“A Black Lady Sketch Show” is the gift that keeps on giving!

It was recently announced that the popular HBO comedy sketch series will not be returning for its fifth season. Most were shocked by this news, mainly because the critically acclaimed program earned many accolades during its run, including three Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. Following the announcement that “A Black Lady Sketch Show” was canceled, Robin Thede – creator and one of the stars of the show – released a statement praising her cast and crew for their hard work. In part, she said,

“ I am so grateful to everyone, and especially want to recognize the Black women and other women of color who excelled in every department at ABLSS. The joy of seeing their success, knowing it has forever changed the perceptions of what we can do, will never diminish.”

Well, it looks like even with the show not continuing, “ABLSS” is still finding ways to “changed the perceptions” of what women of color can do. Social media star Shirley Raines – who is known for her charitable efforts to provide necessities and essential services to the homeless of Skidrow – recently shared that Robin Thede donated the show’s entire wardrobe to her organization, Beauty 2 the Streetz.

Under a video post showcasing the large donation, Raines wrote,

“Got a call from @hbo @ablackladysketchshow ended after 4 seasons and they donated ALL OF THE wardrobes, shoes, purses, wigs, lashes and more to us. They also delivered the very next day to our warehouse – Thx u Robin Thede @robinthede”

Robin Thede reshared the heartwarming footage and replied,

“Thank you to @beauty2thestreetz for your life changing work! I hope these pieces (most were worn once or never even worn!) help so many people! I am so grateful for @lindamorel and my @ablackladysketchshow family who made this incredible donation happen! It was so important to us that we turn the end of our show into a new beginning for others.”

When she’s not doing charitable work, Robin seems to spend her time on the picket line. As previously reported, many productions in Hollywood have indefinitely been placed on pause due to the current writers and actors’ strike. This historic protest is the first time in over 60 years that actors and writers have walked out together. Robin has shared a few posts of herself and her industry friends protesting the ill-working stipulations entertainers have had to endure.
