Update: Beyoncé’s Mother Tina Knowles Shuts Down Speculations That Singer Shaded Lizzo During Recent ‘Renaissance’ Concert
Update: (Aug. 3, 2023): Beyoncé’s mother Tina Knowles wants the world to know that sometimes it’s really not that deep!
As previously reported, many speculated that Beyoncé recently addressed the shocking lawsuit Lizzo is facing amid a tour stop for her “Renaissance World Tour.” While performing “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix),” Beyoncé seemingly skipped over Lizzo’s name. Instead of singing,
“Betty Davis, Solange Knowles; Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl.”
She said,
“Betty Davis, Solange Knowles; Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu.”
Lizzo’s former dancers filed a lawsuit against her earlier this week for allegedly creating a hostile work environment, sexual harassment, and body shaming. However, according to Tina Knowles, her daughter’s change of lyrics had nothing to do with Lizzo’s current legal troubles. Ms. Tina recently entered our comment section on IG under a post about the public’s theory and said,
“She also didn’t say her own sisters name yal should really stop”

There’s also speculation that Beyoncé switched up the lyrics to show extra love to Erykah Badu, who recently accused the “ENERGY” singer of copying her style.
Original story: (Aug. 2, 2023): It looks like Beyoncé is keeping her ears to the streets and isn’t missing a beat.
During a recent performance, Beyoncé may have subtly reacted to recent allegations made against Lizzo. In a new lawsuit filed on Tuesday (Aug. 1), three of Lizzo’s former dancers accused her of sexual harassment and creating a “hostile” work environment.
The plaintiffs — Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez — alleged in the suit that the 35-year-old singer berated a dancer over their weight gain and later fired them after she learned they recorded a meeting due to a health condition. They also claimed Lizzo once pressured her dancers to participate in a sex show while on a trip to Amsterdam, apparently,
“inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas.”
In addition to Lizzo, the singer’s dance captain Shirlene Quigley and her production company are named as defendants as well.

Lizzo
On Tuesday night, while performing “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” on her “Renaissance World Tour,” Beyoncé opted not to sing Lizzo’s name despite having done so previously. In the third verse of the song, Queen Bey lists names of influential Black women in music and sings: “Betty Davis, Solange Knowles; Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl.” However, at her recent concert, the entertainer instead sang, “Betty Davis, Solange Knowles; Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu.”

While some fans thought this move was in response to Lizzo’s lawsuit, others felt it was actually an intentional response to Erykah Badu who recently threw some shade at the “CUFF IT” singer.

Erykah Badu, Beyoncé
Earlier this week, Badu seemingly shaded Beyoncé when she took to social media and accused the Houston native of copying her style. On Sunday (Jul. 30), Erykah Badu posted a photo of herself and the former Destiny’s Child member wearing similar chrome-brimmed hats to her Instagram Story along with the caption,
“Hmmm. I guess I’m everybody’s stylist.”

Several of Beyoncé’s fans came to her defense and pointed out that the singer has been wearing large hats since her “Formation World Tour” back in 2016. While Beyoncé hasn’t directly responded to Erykah’s shade, many fans feel her modified lyrics may have been a nod to the “Love of My Life” singer.
