‘Blind Side’ Actor Quinton Aaron Defends Co-Star Sandra Bullock As Critics Call For Her To Lose Oscar Over Michael Oher’s Claims: ‘I’m Six-Foot-Eight, 400-Plus Pounds, & You Don’t Want Those Problems’
Should Sandra Bullock have to return her “Blind Side” Oscar due to the real-life drama between Michael Oher and the Tuohy family?
“The Blind Side” – a 2009 film that stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy and Quinton Aaron as Michael Oher – tells the story of how an impoverished Michael Oher overcame his life struggles and went on to become a professional offensive lineman thanks to the help and guidance of his (alleged) adoptive parents, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy. The movie was a box office hit, reportedly grossing $309 million on a $29 million budget. In addition to the film cleaning up financially, Sandra Bullock earned a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild Award, and an Oscar for her performance in the project.
However, many are now calling for the actress to return the awards – specifically speaking, her Oscar – due to the latest controversy surrounding the real-life people who inspired the film. As previously reported, earlier this week former NFLer Michael Oher shocked the world by filing a lawsuit against Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy. According to Oher, the Tuohys never actually adopted him but instead, tricked him into entering a conservatorship, which gave them legal authority to make business deals in his name. With their power as conservators, they allegedly inked a deal that paid them and their two biological children millions of dollars in royalties from “The Blind Side” movie while Oher received nothing.

During a recent interview with TMZ, Quinton Aaron came to Sandra Bullock’s defense and expressed that it’s crazy for people to think she should have to relinquish her Oscar. He said,
“We live in a society today where people are so hell-bent on pointing blame on people and to make a statement like that doesn’t make any sense. Sandra Bullock didn’t have anything to do with the real story that we’re reading as of right now…I think people just need to chill out, relax and let the families involved handle what’s going on.”
In a separate interview, he touched on the topic again and said,
“I heard some pretty disturbing things people were saying about her, and I’m not behind that.”
Quinton Aaron added,
“Leave her alone. Don’t come for my mama. I’m six-foot-eight, 400-plus pounds, and you don’t want those problems.”
The Tuohys have denied Oher’s claims, saying that his “absurd” allegations are nothing more than a shake-down for money. According to the family’s attorney, before filing his suit, Oher demanded they give him $15 million or he was going to the press to “plant a negative story about them.”
Oher has asked the court to end the Tuohys’ conservatorship and issue an injunction barring them from using his name and likeness. He’s also seeking a full accounting of the money the Tuohys earned using his name, to be paid his share of profits, and other compensatory and punitive damages.
