Teyana Taylor Confirms Split From Iman Shumpert After 7 Years Of Marriage, Singer Denies Separation Is Due To Infidelity

Looks like another celebrity couple is calling it quits.

Songstress Teyana Taylor recently revealed she’s separated from her husband Iman Shumpert, but says the two are in a good place.

Sharing an image of the pair and explaining their situation, the 32-year-old singer wrote:

“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure.”

She continued:

“We are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT. We just keep y’all a**es out the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise.”

Taylor went on to state the only reason she was addressing their breakup publicly is because of the “false narratives” circulating the internet. It’s no surprise that many would speculate cheating played a role in their decision to part ways. If you recall back in 2022 the couple were part of a Tik Tok controversy after a creator told an eerie story of a singer, who mirrored Taylor’s life at the time, getting cheating on by her athlete husband who was on “Dancing with the Stars”, and allegedly using drugs to cope. At the time, the “Rose In Harlem” singer shot down the rumors and threatened to sue the user for defamation.

Earlier this month as rumors of Taylor and Shumpert’s separation began hitting the internet, Gospel singer Kelly Price spoke out in support of the couple. After claiming to have heard a female blogger harshly criticize the musician, Price responded via live video stating:

“I just listened to a female Black woman, who is a blogger, go in on Teyana Taylor. Basically, calling her all kinds of things. About the fact that she speaks up for her family and when there are allegations out there that she comes to the defense of her family, and she comes to the defense of her husband. What else is she supposed to do? She’s not a sidepiece. She’s not a side hoe. She’s a wife. They have a family…If anything is worth fighting for, it is your family, especially if it can be saved.” 

It’s no doubt that Taylor will likely come under more scrutiny for continuing to defend her family and relationship with the former NBA star. Taking a look at their history, however, it’s no wonder why she does. As she previously stated the couple have been romantically involved for over a decade. The former couple wedded back in 2016 and has since welcomed 2 children together, Junie, 6, and Rue, 2.

There has been no further information on what prompted the split. It also does not seem that Shumpert has commented publicly about the breakup at this time.
